Prevention
We have all heard the saying, "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure", and in respect to medicine that statement is as true as they come. In a recent Statistics Canada report, nearly a quarter of Canada's adult population stated they used alternative medicine regularily. Even as you read this page interest is growing the field of natural prevention.
Before we move on any further, there needs to be clarification on the term "prevention". The term prevention literally means:
1 The act of preventing or impeding.
2 A hindrance; an obstacle. When taken out of the medical context, prevention doesn't sound like such a good thing. You wouldn't want to prevent someone from the sweet taste of an orange, or from seeing the smile on a loved ones face. However, when placed in a medical environment, prevention is the key to stopping a problem before it starts. Prevention includes, and in many ways starts with, a visit with your "Western" family Doctor. Getting a thorough check up including a physical and blood work can help spot many problems just when they are starting.
"Those who win every battle are not really skillful - those who render others' armies helpless without fighting are the best of all"
- Sun Tzu's Art of War
The art behind treating illness is remarkably similar to the art of war. In battle you are best to avoid fighting entirely, because one life lost is one too many. In terms of your health this approach includes: vitamins/mineral supplements, chinese teas, dietary therapy, acupuncture, massage, chiropractic, tai chi or other forms of meditation, and much more. When you start to see a difference in your health, you will be glad that you made the choice to take charge of your health and your life. Your energy levels will become natural and balenced, also many small problems you thought were part of life disappear as you start to clean up your own health. Often appetites for otherwise "junk" foods and behaviors will disappear, and you'll have a new craving to replace them ... a craving for life.
The scope of your own personal work toward health is very personal and very unique, it is also very important. Professional guidence is vital in making effective lifestyle changes. Please feel free to book an appointment with me.
Yours,
David
