White Crane Medicine and Martial Arts

Hello and welcome,

Please feel free to click on the side links and explore this page. There is a little bit here for everyone. I thought it wise to start this page off with a little bit about myself, and some facts about why Traditional Chinese Medicine can help add not only years to your life, but also life to your years:

Traditional Chinese Medicine and You

A couple of years ago in a television interview I was asked how I saw Traditional Chinese Medicine’s (TCM) role in modern health care. The question implied that TCM could be an imposing force, that somehow TCM was more effective than Modern Western Medicine. I replied that it was best that ALL forms of medicine unite against our common enemy, illness. No matter how you look at it, medicine is an attempt to balance the human body whether it be through synthetic drugs, acupuncture needles, massage, herbs, dietary therapy, ECT ... our goal is to bring balance to the many functions of the body.

In pharmacology there are general principles in how drugs react together.

• They can have an additive effect, that means that using the two medicines doubles the effect of your treatment.

• They can have a synergistic effect, which is similar to an additive effect only much greater.

• They can antagonize each other, meaning they can cause problems between two treatments.

• They can have an interfering effect, meaning one treatment stops the metabolism / excretion of the other treatment.

These are the four main principles of combining medicines. Be that combination: Acupuncture with Herbs, Acupuncture with Western Pharmaceuticals, Herbs with Western Pharmaceuticals, Western Pharmaceuticals with Chiropractic, it doesn’t matter. They can either help each other, or hinder each other.

The goal at The White Crane clinic is to help treat illness in all it’s forms, and work in harmony with many forms of treatment.

Not all patients are on medications from their family doctor, and if they are not at the stage in which they need to be medicated they likely won’t be. Balancing between being medication free and needing medication can be a tricky endeavor. However, there are usually many options that can help such patients. Acupuncture, herbal medicines, dietary changes, nutritional supplementation and far infrared heat can help with a vast variety of medical problems. In some cases they may even help you kiss your medications good bye.

Call and book a free consultation, you may be surprised with what you find out.

Yours,

David
